Service Advisor Selected for World Competition

Kia of Sussex Representative To Go Up Against The Nation's Best

NEWTON, NJ - January 25, 2019 - World Class Talent comes in many forms. Sometimes it's athletes, artists or musicians. Other times, it comes in forms you wouldn't expect - like a vehicle Service Advisor. Every year, Kia Motors hosts a competition to find the best Service Advisors throughout the world. The finalists win an all-expenses paid trip to compete in South Korea in April.

Jeff LaSala, from Kia of Sussex in Newton, NJ, will be representing the District & Eastern Region. LaSala has been recognized by Kia Motors of America (KMA) as one of the Top 15 Kia Service Advisors in the United States. Only two finalists will be selected to represent the United States in the 2019 Kia World Service Advisor Competition in South Korea.

Each Kia dealership sent in a 5-minute video application of their Service Advisor nomination. The video had to display the Service Advisor at his or her best by highlighting a knowledgeable and professional customer interaction. Kia then views all video submissions and judges them, selecting the finalists based on a standard criterion that is expected of Kia Service Advisors. David Welker, Service Director of Kia of Sussex, stated, "Jeff has been identified as one of the strongest candidates in the Eastern Region who possesses the knowledge, communication skills and professional appearance necessary to compete at a very high level with top Service Advisors from over 40 countries."

"I have worked as a Service Advisor for 8 years and have never done anything like this, so this experience has been a lot of fun. I've worked very hard over an 18-year career so far. Working with cars has always been my passion, so to see things come to fruition and be rewarded for everything is quite a compliment," LaSala stated.

LaSala said, "We had to create a video that captured every aspect of the Service Advisor position. We went through the greeting, Customer 360 (service walk-around), MPI presentation, maintenance menu selling and service explanation process." These were all elements that Kia required to be in the video. "It was an extremely fun experience and it's not over yet. I would be honored to represent the United States in South Korea. I make sure every customer that comes through our doors has a positive service experience and I'd like to be able to share that enthusiasm with the world," LaSala added.

"KMA will be represented by the very best Kia Service Advisors from across the nation," said Welker. "Jeff has worked here for 3 years and is absolutely deserving of this honor. He works tirelessly to provide a top-notch experience for all customers who come into our service department. We are extremely proud of our process in our service department and Jeff consistently exceeds expectations. We wish Jeff all the best during this contest and hope he does get selected to go to South Korea."

The final competition takes place in Seoul, South Korea on April 22-26. The videos that were submitted will be played at the competition. Best of luck to Jeff the rest of the way!
